AVG · Batting average
Team hits divided by team at-bats for the week.
Rewards contact bats; one cold week from a low-average slugger can sink it.
Timeless Baseball League · scoring
A TBL week is a series of games between two clubs. When the series ends, team totals are compared category by category — win more than your opponent and you take the week. The commissioner can score all eleven or trim the list, so no two leagues have to value the same skills.
Team hits divided by team at-bats for the week.
Rewards contact bats; one cold week from a low-average slugger can sink it.
Total home runs hit by your lineup during the series.
The most volatile hitting category and the easiest to punt or chase.
Runs driven in, credited from the actual base-out sequence.
Batting order matters — middle-of-the-order slots see more runners on.
Times your hitters cross the plate.
On-base skill and the top of the order drive this more than power.
Successful steals, resolved in base-out context.
A cheap category to win outright with one speed specialist.
Team OBP plus team SLG for the week.
The best all-around hitting measure and the hardest to fake.
Earned runs times nine divided by innings pitched. Lower wins.
Innings volume steadies it; a short week can swing it wildly.
Walks plus hits allowed divided by innings pitched. Lower wins.
Control arms carry this even without strikeout stuff.
Total strikeouts by your staff.
A pure volume category — more starts means more strikeouts.
Pitcher wins credited from the simulated game state.
Partly luck, which is why deep rotations tend to win it over a season.
Save situations converted by your closer.
Only closers accumulate them, so one roster slot decides the category.
Rate categories (AVG, OPS, ERA, WHIP) reward quality; counting categories (HR, RBI, R, K, W, SV) reward volume. A roster loaded with aces wins the rate stats but can lose four hitting categories every week. Balance is the default winning shape — punting is a real strategy only in leagues with a trimmed category list.
